This review is for the Midtown location. I’ve been here twice and I’m never returning. The first time was amazing. Five out of five stars. There was a mixup about which location I booked. They had me at their Broadway location that I booked online and canceled with the receptionist at their Midtown location, the location I meant to book. Whatever the case may be, they were incredibly kind, accommodating and saw me within 15 minutes even though their records were showing I should be at their other location. I felt comfortable with Dr. Kakossian and looked forward to returning. Yesterday was my second appointment. I didn’t even get to see my doctor because she was over an hour late. The practice offered to let me see Dr. Khoury instead and I declined, as I’m more comfortable seeing doctors who are women. After waiting about 45 minutes, they called me in to the nurse’s station. I assumed Dr. Kakossian was finally arriving and they were getting me ready to expedite my visit with her. Wrong. They proceeded to tell me they were unable to see me because of how far along in my pregnancy I was (19 weeks). When I went here the first time, Dr. Kakossian said it was lucky I saw her because she and Dr. Khoury are the only ones who see people after 12 weeks of pregnancy. I was 12 weeks pregnant at that time. Well according to Dr. Khoury, that isn’t the case which he proceeded to tell me in a very unsympathetic tone. He made me feel panicked that I’d ruined my pregnancy because I’d missed “important appointments” and because of my age (I’m 36, my mom was 40 when she had me). He was able to confirm that the heartbeat was there and looked good, that the baby’s size also was good, but I suppose they don’t have the equipment to see more. I can certainly understand not being equipped to see patients after 12 weeks of pregnancy. I also know what I was told. Plus, I booked this appointment over the phone with a receptionist at the practice and said I would be 19 weeks pregnant and wanted to make sure everything was on track. At no point did that receptionist say “we can’t see you that far along.” At no point in the 45 minute wait did the receptionist, who I presume has minimal access to my file, at least seeing the reason for my visit, express that they couldn’t accommodate me properly. So I wasted an hour of my day, $30 on a cab, and went home on the subway in tears because of how stressed and overwhelmed I felt from this appointment. Knowing I’m 19 weeks pregnant, why would you stress me out? Why couldn’t you tell me more calmly that a mistake had been made and that I’d have to find another practice? To their credit, they did offer to help me find another provider, but at that point I just wanted to leave and never have any contact again. 5 stars for the first visit, -1 star for the second. *Attaching a screen shot from their website. It literally says “Dr. Kakossian & Dr. Khoury of K & K OB-GYN & Cosmetics offer women from Midtown East Manhattan and Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, NY, comprehensive, state-of-the-art pregnancy care to help ensure both the mother-to-be and the developing baby stay as healthy as possible all the way through delivery.” When does “all the way through delivery” mean “up until 12 weeks?” Make it make sense.
