Understanding Rhinoplasty: Transformative Nasal Surgery

Rhinoplasty involves changing the appearance and function of the nose through precise surgical techniques. Patients seek this procedure for various reasons, including addressing breathing difficulties, correcting congenital malformations, or achieving better facial symmetry.

Conditions Addressed by Rhinoplasty

  • Large or disproportionate nose
  • Nasal hump
  • Drooping nasal tip
  • Bulbous tip
  • Large or asymmetric nostrils
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Trauma-related nasal defects

Surgical Technique and Approach

Clear Lake Medical Center ENT performs rhinoplasty by carefully sculpting nasal bones, repositioning cartilage, and potentially using grafts to enhance nasal structure. Surgical incisions are strategically placed in natural creases to minimize visible scarring.

Recovery and Healing Process

Patients can expect a typical recovery period of approximately two weeks. While initial swelling and bruising subside within this timeframe, complete resolution of nasal contours may take up to 1-2 years. Approximately 80% of swelling resolves after one month, with 90% reduction achieved between 9-12 months.

Surgical Precision Techniques

The procedure may involve narrowing nose width through carefully placed skin incisions. Cartilage grafts are utilized to ensure structural stability and optimal nasal function.

New patient visit in 2024 with Dr. Yoon. I went in very hopeful but when I mentioned my hearing sensitivity, I was looked at weird by staff and doctor. They did the scope through the nose and the doctor kept saying, "we will not find anything" before they even started. I was completely just blown off as if I was making things up. Just another number/patient. I said to myself I will never visit another ENT for awhile after this. Very disappointed.

Dr. Hu is wonderful. I found her here on google being that I don’t live far from the spa. I let her perform a tonsillectomy on my daughter first and that worked out flawlessly. So I then proceeded to become a patient for My nasal issues. I had a previous sinoplasty a decade prior. Dr. Hu noticed I had a deviated septum and a large nose. Fortunately shes double board certified in the medical aspect and cosmetic surgery aspect. I felt like it was a perfect fit for my particular situation, and it was! Dr. Hu repaired my deviated septum and reduced the width of my nose. My wife can’t stop staring at me. I get the most friendliest waves now. Its so nice being handsome lol. I’m only 2 months out of surgery and still only about 90% air flow from my nose. But I was informed it takes time for all the surgery and reconstruction swelling to go down. I am patiently waiting and ecstatic. I now rank this as one of the top ten best things I have ever decided to do with my life! Thank you Dr. Hu for being so wonderful. Its so good that there are genuinely nice people out there who are skilled and talented enough to do such good work. Dr. Hu has made a positive impact on our entire family's life and well being, for that, we Thank her.
