i tried to schedule a consultation. i confirmed my appointment a week prior to the date. they don't give me an appointment date they just say "we will call after 2". im waiting by my phone all night, no call. no e-mail for an entire week and it just says "call us back". i call them back, only to be informed that there was a second secret confirmation the day of my appointment that i wasnt told about. even though i confirmed my appointment, missing that call (while i was at work, about to get off to take my consultation) caused them to cancel my consultation. besides all of the runors about botched jobs and horrible treatment of patients, they play games with their scheduling. DONT IGNORE YOUR GUT. THE BAD THINGS YOURE READING ABOUT THIS PLACE ARE TRUE

Mr.Gorman half of your deposit has been returned and the other half will be sent to you this month despite your insurance company not paying the amount they had agreed to. Your operation, which was very complex, and only the third done in this country, was sucessful and we did express to you that this would be a staged operation prior to the surgery. We value you as our patient and you have been very kind and we expect that when this is all complete you will be very satisfied. We ask that you continue to be patient with us as unfortunately insurances continue to be increasingly challenging for physician and hospital reimbursement.

I went to Dr Salgado for intricate reconstructive surgery. He did an adequate job surgically although he took short cuts that made a following required procedure much more difficult as well as forced the next surgeon to make an additional procedure which is still pending. Thus, my recovery and health has been delayed an additional year or so as each procedure must heal for several months. In addition, when originally scheduling the 2nd procedure through Dr. Salgado’s office the office manager and/or surgeon requested the wrong surgical codes and thus my insurance company approved the incorrect surgery which would have skipped a necessary step and if completed would not have been able to be repaired. Again, delaying the recovery and overall health. Originally, I was thrilled with Dr. Salgado’s office as they were out of network, and they were able to obtain an in-network exception as I had already “interviewed” eight surgeons before meeting Dr Salgado. Thus, I had exhausted my insurance network. I thought this was great as my out of network cost could be up to $18,000 but in network maximum was $4000. Prior to receiving this exemption, Dr. Salgado’s office required me to pay a $10,000 surgical deposit which I paid. After receiving the in-network exemption, I was told by the office manager that I would receive the deposit back less any deductible. Now after the surgery, I have out that the hospital’s urgent care (separate entity within the hospital) wasn’t covered thus I had to pay them an additional $4700. After the surgery, the doctor’s office was discounted approximately $4500 but the insurance company as each insurance company has a cap for each medical and/or surgical code/procedure. The surgeon was paid over $53,000 for the surgical procedure in addition to what the hospital was paid. Once a doctor is treated as in-network by an insurance company, the doctor must abide by the rates that the respective insurance company sets. Thus, the insured is responsible for the deductible as set by the insurance company, but the insured is not responsible for the amount discounted. That is the point of insurance. The doctor’s office has been less than professional and less than honest in dealing with me. Ultimately, the doctor’s office benefited by the in-network exemption and in the end, I ended up paying about the same $18,000 that I would have as if it was out of network as they are refusing to reimburse the security deposit. I am fine financially, but it is the principle that bothers me. I addition, due to the surgeon’s short cuts, I am incurring additional medical costs. Basically, I would never refer anybody to this surgeon as they do not act in good faith and care more about the bottom line than the patient.
